noticed a bunch of CI failures lately, a quick investigation reveals github updated their CI images again, of course 🤦‍♂️

there goes another afternoon debugging and figuring out something that still makes it all work...

Bounties don’t help users fund FOSS projects in a sustainable manner. Here is why that is the case and what better ways are out there

Today is Amazon’s #PrimeDay. A great time to remember that Amazon is one the most harmful, exploitative, and dangerous companies in the world.

A non-exhaustive list of the many reasons to #CancelPrime and #BoycottAmazon:

On the topic of submitted a talk proposal just now, 50m for talking about the custom Linux-embed based OS created by mod.audio/dwarf/

Basically talking about what I do as a job, there are not that many chances for that typically.
(in the right context that is, talking about it without getting boring to the ones listening 😅)

ok workshop abstract submitted for

let's make use of the latest OBS + Carla feature integration to help the common folks get a nice and "all-in-one" live-stream setup!

nothing prepared for it at all yet, besides the software itself.
initial idea is just to show off some initial OBS audio setup, then demonstrate adding some simple plugins (noise gate, eq, etc) then going wild with the full carla patchbay stuff 🤘 😄 🤘

1h should be enough, right?

Preparing for submitting a workshop idea for next November.

Everything is fine and easy, except:

> Please provide a short bio (up to 150 words per author) that we can use to tell readers more about you and what you do.

😱 errr why you do this. presenter doesn't matter, the content does.
I also really dont want to talk about myself.. I guess some generic boring description will do.

Slowly preparing for the new releases, all main blockers are done and even managed to handle the new Cardinal module coming for next release in 7 days - reintroducing AIDA-X, now on your modular! :D

Assuming AIDA-DSP folks are ok with the design that is, but the DSP side already fully works.

It is basically the very recent github.com/AidaDSP/AIDA-X inside Cardinal.

"Piracy can't be stealing if paying for it isn't owning"

This is increasingly how it feels, when streaming shows disappear for tax reasons and things you "own" digitally become inaccessible.

Thank you @Illuminatus for this quote.

13.000 cyclists demonstrated against #Berlin new conservative senator’s decision to stop (and potentially scrap) ongoing infrastructure changes that would have improved the safety of cyclists and pedestrians and contributed to reaching environmental targets.

13.000 people.
7km of streets continuously filled with cyclists.
And you barely hear about it in the news.

13.000 is a big number.
Imagine 13.000 SUVs with a flat tire: would we hear more about it in the news?

Finally wrote something on Patreon trying to explain current situation.

It is more of a personal note than anything technical, so not sure if that much interesting, depends on the people..

Anyhow since there was a recent influx of new patrons, and I hadn't posted in a while, it was about time for a little update.
So there you go :)

Are these cool? Should I make more of them?

For those with a beefy PC and an interest in the Cardinal Synth project, I have a little favour to ask.

Load cardinal.kx.studio/, you should have version 23.05 as shown on the top-right corner of the page.
Do some patching, save it and reload the web browser page.

Are you able to load the patch you saved via File -> "Open local path" submenu ?

Let me know if/how that works for you.
If all is well this means persistent storage for patches created on the browser! 🚀 🚀

@unfa I think thanks to you I have 7 more patrons today 😅 😱

I will make sure to write an extensive post on patreon soon!

Last one has been more than 6 months ago... in between moving to a new country and job difficulties a lot of stuff happened...

so will write something tomorrow perhaps, maximum during the weekend

If you work on Free Software that serves as "digital infrastructure", do take a look at @sovtechfund

In particular the "Challenges to Contribute Back to Open Source" sovereigntechfund.de/en/challe (application deadline 6 July 2023) may be of interest.

a small personal achievement, finally getting rid of the old google account.

was only keeping it for youtube really, but after realizing most of the channels I follow are on alternative services (nebula in specific), it is time to get rid of it.

apologies if you get any email bounces. falktx@gmail.com is no more!
(but I wasn't using it anyway)

@AsahiLinux err forgot to attach screenshot to previous post

this is from github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal
the web version uses web-assembly via emscripten with GLES2.0 mode
but same issue happens on desktop too, it is just easier to reproduce by opening a link

@AsahiLinux any chance someone from your side could have a look at minicardinal.kx.studio/ to indicate what is wrong with the lack of background color on the menus?

Linux on M1 works fine except for this tiny thing... 😢
Seems to be a nanovg related thing? But I don't know if it is me setting up something wrong, or the GL driver having a little bug.
