Hey folks, I've seen a lot of talk going around about adblockers lately. I worked in the advertising technology and security industry for five years and the one core piece of advice I have is:
Holy fuck never give an advertiser your data. You cannot believe how bad it is. Don't. I run three layers of ad block protection and I'd run more if it was feasible. If you want to support creators give them money.
Any device that needs to be off because it can't be trusted with your conversations should not exist in the first place.

@PaulDavisTheFirst published an updated overview of what's likely coming to Ardour next:
@vimproved this is simple, they do not support the kind of packaging you are attempting to do.
packaging juce is a bad idea, their API breaks quite frequently and so you would need to package juce separately for every minor release.
vital[ium] is an example of a plugin where it renders correctly in juce6.0, but gets very messed up in juce6.1. and that version of juce is not maintained anymore, they are already moving on with juce 7.x and soon juce 8.
@silvereagle so making applications in C is not even a thing they even consider hmmm, that explains the very subpar support for C in Visual Studio.
We've just released Ardour v8 with some long-anticipated new features like improved velocity editing (the lollipops), freehand automation drawing, new Grid tool for tempo mapping live performances, Novation Launchpad Pro support, and more!

Uncurled – everything I know and learned about running and maintaining Open Source projects for three decades.
I hope you did not miss this work of mine, as I'm quite happy with it.
@woof I have problems with this on a regular basis too. so much that I need to put a little ram meter on the systray area thing so I know to watch out.
building some very big thing with LTO? better close the web browser to be safe... 😔
@emmycelium bless you too then, a very well made fan art right there
@emmycelium that is not a cat girl, that is Homura. bless her heart, she has been through enough already
Over the next two weeks, I'll be publishing a series of four (well, 4.5) posts about Meta's role in the genocide of the Rohingya in Myanmar.
Part I is up now, along with a little meta-post with notes on terminology and sources and ct.

These posts are aimed squarely at people like me and my tech-world peers—people who work on and care about social technologies.
@randomdent @camille same conundrum that free/open-source developers face.
we want to write tools that others can use without having to put a paywall in between
@jimmysjolund I might have already dropped a word to them about this ;)
Seems the preparations for Ardour 8 are in full force, not much time for anything else.
When I wrote my portfolio I intentionally did it in markdown, with a hope that it could be reusable as a GitHub profile page thing...
Well that seems to have worked nicely!
See for yourself in https://github.com/falkTX
(the same is then also pushed into https://falktx.berlin/portfolio/ of course)
What do you think?
@inviridi we will do our best to keep the MOD stuff online, and still do some small updates to it from time to time. Basically becoming another side project of sorts.
We still need to properly explain this to the community, so it is appreciated to keep this out of the forums for now. Hopefully we start preparing a community update post tomorrow already.
For sharing my profile, sure thing! I do not plan or wish to have a linked-in account myself (and now xing?) so thanks for spreading it around
@inviridi very nice of you, thanks!
